Mission report 002

03/19/2014. 01:00 hours.

> As per mission perameters, I returned to the Ideal Federal Savings Bank in order to recieve disciplinary action and to be reset.

> There were no Handlers present, the only people in the Bank were two technicians. They requested a mission report, despite not having the authority to do so.

> I reported Captain America dead. They appeared releaved.

> I knew these technicians. They helped build the Chair. They were responsible for making me do terrible things. I decided I should punish them. But I failed. I remembered something:

> NEW MEMORY: Japan 1988. Three targets elimenated. One witness, also elimentated. The witness. He was no one. Just a man. He begged for his life. He had a daughter, he said. I crushed his esophogus easily with the Weapon.

> These technicians were not innocent, but I let them live.

[Captain America Exhibit, The Smithsonian Museum, Washington, DC]

> I can understand now why Captain Rogers believed me to be this man: James Buchanan Barnes. But he's mistaken.

> Barnes was an American war hero. He was a friend to Rogers. James Barnes fell off of a train, and died alone in the cold.

> I am machine. I have no name. Even if I wear his face, there is nothing left of him.

Mission report 004

03/25/2014. 06:00 hours.

> The Widow has leaked Hydra's files. Pierce is dead. Rumlow is missing. If there are any Handlers alive, they are in hiding.

> I could find them. I should find them.

> If I do, I would be reset. Captain Rogers override code would be wiped.

> The Winter Soldier should not want things. But—

New Memory 001

04/10/2014 21:00 hours

> BERLIN - WINTER, 1954.

> It was a field test. I was in a nightclub with U.S. and U.K. servicemen. We spoke and drank and laughed late into the night. They believed I was an American soldier. There was a woman [Carol?] who I danced with. I had been previously trained in dance, although I did not remember when. She wanted me to walk her home. Of course, I didn't, I had a target and a mission. His name was Paul. Karpov said he was a traitor to Russia. He didn't say why, or what he had done, and I didn't ask questions. That was strictly forbidden in my programming. Paul danced with Carol's friend, and when both women left, Paul and I continued drinking, he told me about his son. His name was Jimmy, and he had just been born. Paul was going home on furlough the following week. It would be the first time he would get to hold him.

> 2:33am: Paul got into a jeep with two other soldiers [names unknown]. He offered to drive me back to where I was staying. No need, I told him. I'm going in the other direction.

> 2:45am: Jeep overturned and killed all three men. Crash was ruled accidental and was not investigated.

> Upon mission completion, I crossed the border and returned to the Handlers without incident.
